Nothing compares to 3D printed models – a uniquely captivating form of demonstrative evidence. Combining radiological data and the latest 3D printing technology, we reconstruct an injury into a digitally-sculpted colorized physical model that you, the judge and jury can see, touch and feel.
Starting in 2010, we were the leaders in exploring how 3D printing could effectively communicate radiology and pathology findings, and we’ve refined this to an ‘art’. With our extensive experience and deep knowledge of imaging, we review the radiology of your case to select the best studies to be transformed into 3D.
Anatomical structure of our models depends on the case details, and can include:
- Exacting portrayal of injury pathology, cartilage, and joint features
- Skeletal bony anatomy as well as soft tissues
- Post-operative views including portrayal of hardware
- Tumor progression or other pathology tracking
Retaining exacting fidelity to the radiological imaging, we extract the key digital data and remove imaging artifacts (e.g., flaring from metal), designing the model for optimal viewing. Printed in resilient resins and other polymers, our models can be passed around for all litigation participants to examine up close.
Some features of our models include:
- Printing in resilient polymers, rubberized compounds, or even constructed in fabric
- Meticulously colorized details
- Internal reinforcement to connect the bones together and add strength
- Integrated magnets and posts to permit removal of components to see ‘what’s inside’
- Ability to scale the model to print to any desired size
- Labeled photographs that provide a guide for the anatomy and pathology depicted
- Assurance of accurate radiology analysis (by a certified medical illustrator)
- Shipping in a customized, hard-shell protective case for safe handling
